Situated in the heart of downtown Peterborough, at 425 George Street North, Moondance Music is Canada's oldest independent music store and has been turning music lovers on since 1972. Moondance is open Monday to Saturday from 10am-5:30pm.
Moondance carries music for all tastes: rock, blues, jazz, punk, reggae, country, folk, world, celtic and classical, including a wide variety of European imports in all genres. The heart and soul of Moondance is the owner, Mike Taveroff. Mike says,"We're so old that we have music that isn't even on the internet!" If an obscure recording isn't in the store, Mike will special order it for you. If you can't find it, Mike can!
In addition to music, Moondance carries a wide variety of music memorabilia, clothing, posters and smoking paraphernalia.
Stepping into Moondance is like stepping into a time warp: the walls are plastered with posters and album covers spanning over four decades of music. Your first thought may well be that you've just stepped into far more than a music store: perhaps the Moondance Museum of Music instead. Mike loves to talk shop and will show you his collection of rare and/or hard to find releases. Come browse for a few minutes or a few hours. There's always something interesting that you just won't find anywhere else.....
